Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) also known as Nodular hyperplasia, Benign Prostatic Hypertrophy, or Benign enlargement of the prostate (BEP), is actually a form of Prostatitis but its notoriety begs mention of it separately.BPH is caused by hyperplasia of prostatic stromal and epithelial cells, which consequently causes the formation of large nodules in the periurethral area of the prostate. The disorder occurs mostly in men above the age of 50 and its chief symptom is increased difficulty urinating. In fact the nodules can grow to be so large that they actually block the flow of urine completely. Post treatment may increase the likelihood of sexual disfuctions such as Erectile Dysfunction (ED)
