This wonderful plant may reduce inflamed tissues, and soothe irritated mucous membranes. Slippery Elm may prove to be useful in many instances. Nature's Way Slippery Elm Bark may settle upset stomachs and irritable colons. The mucilage contained within the inner bark of the herb may have the same benefits as pharmaceutical demulcents. Tannins which are abundant throughout Nature's Way Slipper Elm act as astringents and may help stop diarrhea, and constrict tissues. Slippery Elm has been used to protect against duodenal ulcers, colitis and diverticulitis.
