Country Life's 5 mg biotin is a "yeast free" high potency biotin in a vegetarian capsule. Biotin is a water soluable B vitamin which aids in the metabolism of protein,fats and carbohydrates. Biotin is produced in the body by intestinal bacteria. Food sources of biotin are meat organs, egg yolks, oatmeal, soy and mushrooms,as well as bananas,peanuts and nutritional yeast.
Biotin is supportive in conditions of brittle nails, depression, hair loss, dermatitis, anemia and nausea. Antibiotics can interfere with the intestinal production of biotin. Biotin is part of B complex that converts food into energy, along with helping the body metabolize fats and carbohydrates.
