L-Carnitine is essential for the production of energy from fatty acids by virtue of its role in the transport of fatty acids into the mitochondria for energy production (in a process called beta oxidation). L-Carnitine enhances the rate of ATP production (also called oxidative phosphorylation), which is a key step in energy production throughout the body.*

By enhancing fatty acid metabolism via beta oxidation, carnitine can help maintain healthy triglyceride levels.* Major body tissues, particularly the heart and skeletal muscles, depend on fatty acid oxidation as their primary source of energy. L-Carnitine promotes efficient heart function.* L-Carnitine is also involved in sperm motility.*
