Benign prostatic hyperplasia:Men over fifty often experience swelling in the area of the prostate gland and a frequent need to urinate. These are usually minor but annoying problems. Men with prostate conditions should have regular medical examinations, to make sure that deeper problems, such as serious infection or prostate cancer, are not involved.
Stinging pain during urination that is worse when the final drops are passing is a strong indication for this remedy. Discomfort may also involve the bladder. The prostate area is swollen and very sensitive to touch. The person may feel worse from heat and from being in warm rooms, with improvement from being out in open air or from cool bathing.
Chicken Pox:Chicken pox is a common childhood viral illness. Many cases are mild; however, those that are uncomfortable can often be helped with homeopathy. Fatigue and low fever typically begin ten days to three weeks from the time of exposure. A flat red rash comes out, transforms into pimples, then develops into blisters that eventually break and harden into itchy crusts. If fever is very high and persistent, or if a person seems to be extremely ill, it is best to consult a physician.
This remedy may be indicated when eruptions are large and slow to emerge. The child feels sweaty, fussy, and may be nauseous with a white-coated tongue. If chest congestion with a rattling cough develops, or a bubbly sound on breathing, Antimonium tart is likely to be the appropriate remedy.
Cold sores:Herpes is a common virus that causes painful cold sores around the mouth as well as genital eruptions. A burning or itching sensation may precede the outbreak by several days. Eruptions are most likely to come out in times of stress and tend to reappear in the same locations. Constitutional homeopathic care with the guidance of an experienced practitioner may help to raise a person™s resistance to cold sores.
When a herpes outbreak is accompanied by stinging pain and the area looks red and swollen, this remedy can be helpful. The sores are tender to touch, and ice or cold compresses are soothing.
Conjunctivitis: or pinkeye? is an inflammation of the membrane that lines the eyelids and covers the whites of the eyes. The cause is usually viral (if bacteria are involved, the discharge will be thick and yellow-green). Conjunctivitis can also be caused by allergy, irritation from pollutants, windburn, or exposure to too much sun. Homeopathic remedies can help to reduce inflammation and ease discomfort in conjunctivitis. If significant improvement does not take place within a week, consult a doctor.
Puffy, pink, watery swelling that feels better from cold applications is a strong indication for this remedy. Stinging, burning pain may be experienced, and the eyelids may stick together. A person who needs this remedy often feels irritable, disliking interference
EdemaSwelling and puffiness in the ankles or around the eyes and other body areas are sometimes caused by minor stresses, such as standing for long periods of time, unaccustomed heavy exercise, hot weather, a change in salt intake, premenstrual stress, or minor conditions involving circulation. Edema can also occur in serious conditions such as heart disease, kidney disorders, liver problems, or complications during pregnancy”all of which require a physician™s care. Homeopathic remedies may be used when the cause is obviously minor, but any extreme or long-lasting edema should have a physician™s attention and diagnosis.
This remedy may be indicated when puffy swelling develops below the eyes or in the extremities. The area can feel tight and numb, or tender with stinging sensations. Cold soaks and cold applications help, while warmth and touch can make things worse. A person who needs this remedy typically has low thirst, dislikes interference, and feels irritable
Eye injuries/eye strain:Long hours staring at a computer screen, reading, writing, doing beadwork, sewing, tying flies, repairing electronics equipment, or any close and detailed work can lead to eye strain from overuse. Soreness of the muscles around the eyeballs, weak or blurry vision, burning, watering, and oversensitivity to light are common symptoms. Discomfort from minor eye irritations (from smoke, pollutants, smog, or pollens), slight abrasions (from contact lenses, sand, or dirt), or bruising injuries can also often be relieved with homeopathy. If any eye has undergone a traumatic injury, or if any symptoms are unusual or distressing, see a physician right away.
This remedy may bring relief when foreign matter gets into the eye and causes irritation. The person feels fearful and agitated ” with eye pain, heavy watering, and heightened sensitivity to light.

After a period of fever and malaise, the eruptions appear on parts of the ribcage area (back, sides, or abdomen) or sometimes on the face. Homeopathic remedies are often very helpful for pain relief and recovery. Outbreaks near the eyes require medical attention.
Swollen, tender eruptions with burning, stinging pain and itching suggest a need for this remedy. Symptoms are aggravated by warmth, and relieved by cold applications or exposure to cool air. The person may be irritable and very sensitive to touch.
Influenza:Influenza refers to many strains of viral illness that are more intense than a common cold, and typically include fever, muscle aching, headache, and fatigue. Some kinds of flu have cold-like symptoms with sore throat or respiratory involvement; others focus on the digestive tract, with diarrhea, nausea, or vomiting. If a strain of flu with a characteristic set of symptoms is œgoing around,? a remedy that matches them can often be used preventively. When a person is ill, a remedy should be chosen to match the specific symptoms.
This remedy may be helpful if a person has dry fever that alternates with sweating, facial flushing, and a very sore throat with swollen tonsils. Pain may extend to the ears, and the eyelids may be swollen. Exposure to cool air and cold applications may bring relief. Despite the fever, thirst usually is low. The person can be very irritable, disliking interference
Insect bites and stings:Homeopathic remedies can be useful for relieving the pain and swelling of insect bites and stings. If a person is allergic to the venom of a stinging insect, or if a bite is from a poisonous spider, emergency medical attention is needed right away. (Remedies can still be used, to reduce the early trauma and to help recovery.)
If a bite or bee sting causes puffy, tender swelling that is pink or red and hot to the touch, this remedy may be helpful. The area stings and burns, and cold applications bring relief. (If a person is allergic to insect venom, especially bee-stings, Apis may help to reduce the swelling of the passages, given as first aid while on the way to emergency medical care.)
Mumps:Mumps is a viral infection in which the salivary glands, especially the large parotid gland in the cheek, become inflamed and swollen. Fever, headache, pain in front of and below the ears, and dry mouth (or sometimes excessive salivation) are common symptoms. The following homeopathic remedies can be helpful in many cases. Mumps in older children and adults can be serious, since ovaries and testicles can become inflamed or damaged. If areas other than the salivary glands are involved, if fever and headache are extreme, or if the person has abdominal pain and vomiting, consult a doctor right away.
When this remedy is indicated, the face looks puffy, pink, and tender, and cool compresses are soothing. Even with fever, thirst is usually low. The person is irritable, disliking interference.
