Pregnenolone 100 mg 100 capsules - LifeExtension - Nutritional Supplements, Antiaging, Health and Nutrition
Pregnenolone is biochemically a prohormone. It is made directly from cholesterol within the mitochondria of the adrenal glands and, to a lesser degree, the nervous system, with the help of the cholesterol side chain cleavage enzyme, p450scc. Pregnenolone is a precursor to various hormones, such as progesterone, mineralocorticoids, glucocorticoids, androgens, and estrogens. So it can help the body maintain normal hormone levels, which in turn helps numerous body functions.

Level is 22mg and I'm 51, 5', 105lb, w hypothyroid, adrenal fatigue and husimotos disease. I've also recently read that taking pregnenolone can lead to cancer. Please send me some feedback!Thank you!

A: We can only recommend taking the dose as directed by the manufacturer which is one capsule daily. Your physician may prescribe you other doses, however if 2 different doctors are telling you differently you might want to let each doctor know what the other one is saying and find out which is right for you. Cutting a capusle in half should not be a problem however your physician can advise you if that is necessary.
The warnings on this product are as follows:Pregnenolone may affect levels of other hormones, such as progesterone, estrogen, testosterone and/or DHEA. Do not take this product if you have a history of seizures. Do not take this product if you have breast cancer, prostate cancer, or other hormone-sensitive diseases.
Question: I am 64, had a total hysterectomy about 35 years ago. I've been on Permarin until Dec. of this last year. I had what the doctors thought was 2 Mimi strokes but the MRI and cat scan showed nothing but took me off the Premarin. Needless to say, my hot flashes are bad! I've been taking Pregnenolone, 50 mg along with Super Primrose, 1300 for 2 months. I think it might be helping but was wondering if I can increase to 100 mg safely? Can you help me?
- A: The dosage on this supplement is 1 capsule which is 100mg. When using nutritional supplements, please consult with your physician if you are undergoing treatment for a medical condition as they cannot provide you the safety precautions you are looking for. There are no direct warnings against taking this supplement if you have had a hysterectomy but if you have had a history of seizures it is advised not to take this type of product.
