Lactase is an enzyme essential to the digestion of lactose, a type of sugar found in dairy products. Solaray's Lactase vegetarian capsules contain an equivalency of 4000 FCC lactase units per capsule and an additional 100 mg of calcium. A lack of Lactase can cause one to experience upsetting indigestion; bloating, abdominal cramping, and unruly flatulence.
